HARVEST 12 Exhibition

The Faculty of Arts and Design at October University of Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) conducted the 12th Edition of HARVEST which is more than just an art gallery. It is a showcase of the faculty’s academic journey, excellence, and the connections it forms. Above all, it is a day on which the faculty celebrates the success of our students. HARVEST is a gateway for our students to express their innovation, passion, identity, stories, heritage, and creativity. In the presence of a group of professors and faculty members at Egyptian universities, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Heritage House, Prof. Dr. Nahla Imam, and the great journalist/Mohamed Baghdadi.

October University of Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA University) pursues a curriculum that defines strategies that embrace sustainable development issues, the country's 2030 Agenda, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) determinants and goals, which were announced in 2015. These goals are also known as the Global Goals for Sustainable Development and represent a call for Global work to end poverty and protect the planet from global warming and climate change. The goal is to ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity to reach the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. Dr. Nawal El-Degwi, Head of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Khairy Abdel Hamid, President of the University, have adopted this approach to advance lifestyles and human needs.

MSA University has prepared ambitious programs to train and qualify faculty members and students on digital transformation mechanisms, artificial intelligence techniques, and virtual reality, and to use them as modern tools in all fields and specializations. In this context, Dr. Tarek Saleh Said, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, stated that more than 90% of student projects at different academic levels this year serve the country’s plans for sustainable development.

The students have continued their journey for over ten years by implementing their projects with unparalleled determination and dedication. Of course, this success was the result of the interest of the faculty and supporting staff, who were role models for the students at all stages of their studies over two full semesters.

This year’s “HARVEST 12” exhibition brings various ideas and creativity, with the participation of augmented reality technology in various fields. Furthermore, the Faculty of Art and Design engages in this experience hands-on with students by creating virtual models to test products. This helps avoid wasting time and effort building physical models.

This technology provides a sense of the product's natural presence, as students and designers can verify the design in the real environment and ensure the quality of the materials and their compatibility with the design. Thus, participants can communicate and express their opinions more clearly during the design process.
