The Community Service and Sustainable Development Committee at the faculty of Physical Therapy organized an awareness session under the title "The Dangers of Smoking and Addiction and Their Negative Effects on Individuals and Society" on Monday, October 2nd. The session featured the participation of Dr. Hisham Gomaa, a specialist in psychology and addiction treatment from the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund, and a certified psychotherapist approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, as well as Dr. Salah Ashour, the Director of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in the Ministry of Interior's Medical Services Sector.

It also highlighted the importance of assisting addicts in their recovery process by introducing them to addiction treatment centres that handle individuals with confidentiality and professionalism, targeting not only specific groups but all segments of society through visits, tours, and meetings.

The session also covered the significant role of universities and faculty members in supporting youth in the fight against addiction, including regular awareness activities. Additionally, it raised awareness about the types of drugs, their effects on individuals, and the consequences that accompany users and addicts, while emphasizing preventive measures to avoid falling into the trap of addiction and substance abuse.
