Assistant Professor Mohamed Refaat

Dr Refaat obtained his B.Sc. in Plant biology from the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University. Afterward, He joined the faculty of science at Cairo University for his MSc. Afterward, he joined Kyoto University in Japan as a research associate working on the Epigenetic regulation of plant stress memory and plant-plant communication through volatile signals.

Then he obtained the prestigious Japanese Government(Monbukagakusho:MEXTScholarship for his Ph.D.at the Tokyo University of science.

His Ph.D. work focused on ubiquitination in plants, a key post-translational modification involved in most cellular processes, and its role in plant defense against chewing insects and necrotrophic fungi. He obtained my Ph.D. in 2019.

Then I joined Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. as an application specialist for less than a year.

He moved to USA as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Riverside. His work there was focused on Plant-nematode and aimed to develop a CRISPR genome-edited tomato plants to produce nematode-resistant variety. In May 2022, he joined MSA University, Faculty of Biotechnology as an assistant professor.
