Medical Excuse from Modules

If a student experiences a medical condition that prevents him/her from attending classes, the student is required to contact the university medical doctor no later than three days after the illness has occurred. The university M.D evaluates the students' case either accepting or rejecting the attendance excuse. In case the excuse is accepted, the M.D decides on the number of days the student is excused for. Such Medical absence does not deprive the student from attending the final exam however, the student's attendance and participation marks are affected by such a period of medical absence.

Repetition of Modules

A student who fails to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA equivalent to C- for four consecutive semesters is requested to change his/her major or alternatively to transfer to another faculty. Once a student's cumulative GPA falls below C- he/she is placed under academic probation. Due to this constraint, students who are under probation are allowed to repeat modules with a grade of D+ , D and F during this 4-semester period under the supervision of an academic advisor. Students who are not under academic probation are not allowed to repeat previously passed modules.

The higher grade of any repeated module replaces the previous grade in the calculation of the cumulative GPA.

Condoning Failure

With the exception of Design modules in the Architecture Programme, students who get a minimum of 45% in a module may be condoned by a maximum of 5% by the University Assessment Board. A student may get a total of 5 marks in all his/her modules in one semester. Failure in Design modules in the Architecture Programme is not condoned.
