Grade Appeals

Students fill a Grade Appeal Form at the Admission office. Then all grade appeals are sent to the Examination Unit. The Examination Unit recalculates the total grade of the student from the records available and also checks that there is no indication that the examiner missed any questions during the grading of the answer sheet.

Assessment Guide & Regulations

The rules and regulations for assessment and progression are as follow:

The Calendar of Assessment
There are five main periods of assessment during the academic year:

  • At the middle of the Fall Semester.
  • At the middle of the Spring Semester.
  • At the end of the Spring Semester.
  • At the end of the Summer Semester.

The period of final assessment includes a deadline for submitting all work to be assessed as well as concluding all the examinations.

At the end of each period of assessment, the University Assessment Board meets to approve the results of all modules and award qualifications. There are 2 Assessment Boards: Faculty Assessment Board & University Assessment Board.

Failure in Modules

Students must meet the deadline for submission of all module work components according to the requirements of the university and module staff.

Students who fail to attend the final exam will fail this module.

Students who fail to achieve 25% from the marks in the final exam, which is equivalent to 10 marks in most modules, will fail this module.

Students who fail to attend the midterm exam will not be deprived from completing the module but will lose all the marks which are equivalent to 20% from final grade. In case of unexpected circumstances that prevent the student from attending the midterm exam, the student submits a midterm exemption request in order to have their final exam out of 60%. If the student does not give enough reason substantiated with documents the university president may not honor his/her request

Incomplete Modules

If a student fails to attend the final exam on account of any emergency or exceptional circumstances, the University President may approve granting him/her an incomplete grade.

Session work grades are transferred for each student to the semester in which the module is next offered, during which he/she must re-sit the final exam.
