The theme for this semester's graduation projects for our Architecture students was "Designing a Sustainable Cultural Center at Baharia Oasis"
The challenge was to make a fully self-sustained system that is eco-friendly. Built with native renewable materials, that are non-toxic e.g. clay and wood. Some of the students' innovative concepts that fully address the challenge were:
|
- Utilizing natural air conditioning systems via heat flow studies, orientation and wind catchers.
- Using solar cells to fully sustain the Cultural Center's power needs.
- Designing the buildings acoustically inspired by musical instruments.
- Designing the buildings inspired by sacred geometry and ancient Egyptian architecture.
- Drawing the whole project's layout lines along the lines of sand dunes to conform to the natural flow of the oasis.

|
The students portrayed mastery of presentation skills, as they all showed off their artistic talents through miniature models, 3D models, unique perspectives, as well as traditional hand drawn and colored representation of their concepts.
